Getting started
How do I connect my YouTube channel?
Go to Dashboard → Channels → Add Channel. Click Authorize with Google and follow the OAuth flow. EmbedShorts requests read-only access to your channel's public video list — we never post or modify anything on your behalf.
What counts as a YouTube Short?
We treat any video on your channel with a duration of 60 seconds or less as a Short, which matches how YouTube categorizes them. Videos longer than 60 seconds are excluded automatically.
How long does the first sync take?
The initial sync processes your channel's upload history. Channels with up to 500 videos typically finish within 60 seconds. After that, new Shorts appear in your feed within ~30 seconds of being published.
Do I need a YouTube API key?
No. EmbedShorts handles YouTube API authentication on your behalf using our own API keys and quota. You authorize via Google OAuth and we take care of the rest.
Can I connect multiple YouTube channels?
Yes. The Growth plan supports 3 channels, and Pro supports unlimited channels per workspace. You can create separate feeds per channel or mix Shorts from multiple channels into one feed.
Installation & widget
Will the widget slow down my website?
No. The widget JS is under 15 KB (gzip) and loads with async defer, so it never blocks your page render. Video players are lazy-loaded only when they scroll into view. Lighthouse performance scores are unaffected.
Does it work on Shopify?
Yes — we have a native Shopify theme extension (Online Store 2.0). Install EmbedShorts from the Shopify App Store, then add the EmbedShorts Widget block in the theme editor. No code required. See the Shopify guide in the docs.
Does it work on WordPress?
Yes. Install the EmbedShorts plugin from the WordPress plugin directory. Use the Gutenberg block or the [embedshorts feed="YOUR_FEED_ID"] shortcode.
Can I use it on Webflow, Squarespace, or Framer?
Yes — on any platform that lets you add custom HTML or a custom code block, you can paste the script tag. Our docs include step-by-step guides for Webflow, Squarespace, and Framer.
Can I embed the widget multiple times on the same page?
Yes. Each script tag instance creates an independent player. Use different feed IDs for different feeds, or the same feed ID to show the same feed in multiple places.
YouTube & Shorts
Do you host or store my videos?
Never. EmbedShorts stores only metadata (video ID, title, thumbnail URL, duration). All video playback is delivered by YouTube's IFrame API. This means unlimited views are free for us to offer — YouTube pays the bandwidth costs.
What happens if I delete a Short on YouTube?
Deleted videos are automatically removed from your feed within a few minutes via webhook notification. Visitors to your site will see the remaining Shorts with no gap.
Can I manually reorder my Shorts?
Yes. In Dashboard → Feeds → Edit Feed, switch the order mode to Manual and drag-and-drop your Shorts into any order.
Can I hide specific Shorts from the embed?
Yes. Click any Short in your feed editor and toggle it to Hidden. It stays synced so it will reappear if you re-enable it, but it won't show in the live widget.
Do Shorts autoplay with sound?
By default, autoplay is muted — which is required by browser autoplay policies and is also what we recommend (4× higher play rate than sound-on autoplay). Visitors can unmute at any time. You can disable autoplay entirely in feed settings.
Billing & plans
Is there really a free plan with no view cap?
Yes. The Free plan includes 1 YouTube channel, 1 feed, up to 6 Shorts, and unlimited website views — forever. Since we don't host video, views cost us nothing, so we can offer this without burning money.
How does billing work?
Payments are processed by Paddle, our merchant of record. Paddle handles global tax compliance (VAT, GST, sales tax) and issues your invoice. You'll see Paddle on your bank statement, not EmbedShorts.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Cancel from Settings → Billing → Cancel Subscription. Your plan stays active until the end of the billing period. We do not charge cancellation fees.
Do you offer a money-back guarantee?
Yes — 14 days on your first paid plan purchase, no questions asked. Email hi@embedshorts.com within 14 days of your first charge.
Do you offer annual billing?
Yes. Switching to annual gives you 2 months free (roughly 17% off). You can switch between monthly and annual at any time from Settings → Billing.
Do you offer discounts for agencies?
The Agency plan ($249/mo) includes unlimited client workspaces and white-label branding. If you manage more than 10 client sites, email hi@embedshorts.com and we'll find the right structure.
